Poetry Book Launch!

I’m pleased to announce the official release of my debut poetry collection, Life and Death and Holy in Every Breath (Wild Rising Press). The launch will commence on Tuesday, September 17th.  That morning, at 11 am EST, I’ll be doing a live reading and discussion on Facebook and Zoom; you can register to attend at: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAodemtqTssG93RuJaKGS7-o906I1WcH_Ws (pre-registration is requested).

I’m also excited to announce the book is already ranked #1 New Release, from pre-sales, in Women’s Literature Criticism!

With original watercolor illustrations along with beautiful poems about nature, spirituality, and life, the book would be perfect for gifts. With poems about death and grief, medical encounters, and social justice, it would also be excellent for using in classes on creative autoethnography, creative writing, death and dying, and health humanities. I’m available to speak to book clubs, classes, and other groups about the book. Feel free to invite your classes, friends, and networks to the September 17 reading.

As part of the launch, I’m offering a handprinted watercolor bookmark to the first 25 people to send me an email with confirmation they’ve purchased the book. You can email me at: csdavis@christinesalkindavis.com.

Here’s the description:

With “a stunning collection of poetry” and “a treasure of a book that stirs the senses,” poet, writer, and artist Christine Salkin Davis debuts these inspiring poems that dive deep into what the wide awake heart knows of grief, loss, social justice, life, and spirituality.

In her debut poetry collection, Christine Salkin Davis brings her unique WiseWoman insights to our everyday experiences of life, love, death, and the holy. The poems in this collection—from exquisitely crafted sonnets to deeply thoughtful free verse—weave grief, loss, social justice, spirituality, nature, and love into a powerhouse body of work that illuminates and uplifts the messiness of life. Superbly illustrated with Davis’s own delicate watercolors,  this book will touch your heart, enliven your mind, and offer you fresh sweetness to face “disappointing plotlines”:

“yet, this bird sings in the midst of the rain.

I want her eyes to see instead of mine.”

-       From Disappointing Plotlines

Writing eloquently through the heartrending deaths of loved ones, our shared experiences of political turmoil, social unrest, and everyday life, Christine Salkin Davis hands us hope, beauty, and inspiration through the holiness that emerges from decay. Davis’ poems give you permission to doubt, cry, believe, and to love—and to always keep your eyes wide open to the miracles that restore beauty to the world.

Notice the way the light sparkles on a leaf in the rain.

Notice the way the moon shimmers with stardust.

Notice the way silver blinds in sunlight.

Notice the dandelion weeds – do not discard,

for they are the favorite of the cardinal,

and she loves yellow flowers, like daisies.

-       From Ritual to Restore Beauty to the World

For women, men, your best friend and your neighbors, buy this book for yourself and for gifts. It may change your world.
