Yesterday was National Pet Memorial Day. Here's a poem I wrote about my late dog Maggie when she was ill. It's an excerpt from "Start at the Heart," in Life and Death and Holy in Every Breath (Wild Rising Press, 2024). It's a haibun style, prose punctuated by haiku-like short poems.
